What a great find!
I also chased the leads and found the other clip you were talking about, and it's a fantastic look at some of the extended family of the bp.
This one actually has a sensible approach to things that I made a frightful mess of while unknowingly trying to re-invent the concept. Lovely sound. I wonder where you go for a set of strings for one of these.

Regardless of who performed in this video Karen, if you heard RIck play the bowed psaltery you'd say the same thing. He plays beautifully! There are some videos posted of him playing though so enjoy.

Hi Karen, I should have included an explanation when I linked to this video. It is a demonstration of a violin zither somewhere in Switzerland. This afternoon I found another video posted by the same person on their Youtube channel at -

In it the same guy that is playing this zither demonstrates several different types of old zithers. I am fascinated by all the different types of zithers, of which the bowed psaltery also falls into that catagory. I'll see if I can edit this video to add a title.

I'm at work (on lunch now, don't jump to conclusions : ) and don't have sound on my PC...I'm dying to hear this when I get home tonight.
I'm glad we can still add videos, though we aren't supposed to be able to. I recommend we get them uploaded quickly in case we lose the ability!

This video is a personal favorite because it shows a unique type of bowed psaltery with a gorgeous sound. When I heard it I broke out in goose bumps!
