Playing Dark Island on tenor bowed psaltery with a recording of Kenji Komatsuzaki playing on hammered dulcimer in the background. Kenji gave his kind permission for me to use his wonderful recording for that purpose.

Thanks, Greg.  I also love the lower tones of tenor and baritone psaltery.    Kenji said we can do more "duets" so I may try this again sometime soon.  He plays so beautifully on hammered dulcimer.  I'm honored he'll allow  me to use his recordings like this occasionally.

BPs are so often pegged as the high-pitched voice in the group. How grand to see you daring to take it low. The dulcimer's sparkly highs are right at home playing over your creamy resonance.

I used Rick Long's recommendation of phosphor bronze strings from  .  They are guitar strings that can be bought in bulk packs of 12 strings per package.  I bought .022 - .020 and .018.  I used mostly the 22 and 20 though.   For a no-name 30 string psaltery with issues at first,  it sounds pretty decent - don't you think?  I was using my pick-up with amp for the recording though.

This video is a personal favorite because it shows a unique type of bowed psaltery with a gorgeous sound. When I heard it I broke out in goose bumps!
