HiJust bought a new instrument. A Romania made and being new I've had to tune it. Not only does it not sound anything like my old one. It's not got that lovely deep sound. But the bow of course…Continue

In just over a weeks time is the start of Broadstairs folk week. Bands every night. Folk dancing and Morris men in the streets. A large folk sales area. And best of all . People who have not seen each other for over a year, this time two. Sit in the seafront gardens and play. And I'll be doing the same.
I've been missing from here for some time. But some times life seems so busy. I'm off down to dorset on my hols shortly. I'm taking my Bs. I've had this daft idea about playing on the top of Cerne abbas. Also pay my respects to the last resting place of Pete shutler. The man who made fall in love with the BS.
it s strange, ive not played my B s for some time, the other day I herd a track by my favourite west country group, the yetties, Lawn sunset. Played on the Bs. I just had to have a go and have a go at it. I sat on the end of the bed and lost myself in music for half hour. I'd forgotten how relaxing the B s could be.
A rise before before a fall. It goes like this. a forum member Janey very kindly went to the trouble of sending me some strings to replace my broken one, some thing i've never done. Read up on it, that's simple. Well the first string was. put it in and tuned it. ok. check other strings, one seemed flat. ajust string. BANG!
I must remember to make sure i'm turning the right string to the one I want to tune. Things are never simple.
