electronic tuner for psaltery

Hi - Does anybody know of an electronic tuner which will clip to a psaltery?  I have a tuner but I have to use a pick-up which I attach to the psaltery and then connect to the tuner.  I know you can get tuners for lots of instruments but none seem to have a wide enough grip to fasten on to a psaltery - any advice gratefully received = Anne

 Hi hilary, this is not a paid endorsement (Darn!) but I really like my intellitouch PT10 Tuner. The clip fits the point of my Bowed Psaltery and I love the way it turns from red to green when tuned! Good on batteries, on and off and calibration buttons on the side protect from accidentally turning on in case, and they cost around $20.00 U.S.

Another clip-on electronic tuner which I've had good success with is the SNARK.  I supply them with the psalteries I build and customers seem really pleased with them.  They have a switch which will allow you to use audio or vibration from the instrument.  The clip-on system works very well on the top of the psaltery where it is out of the way of your bowing.  The battery is a common one used in automotive key fobs and many other devices plus it lasts a long time.  The price ranges from $15 to $20 US.  You will want the "RED" one since it covers the range of notes on our psalteries.
