Denise and Camelia, this is a baritone psaltery. The cello strings used on this psaltery would never fit on a regular psaltery, to wide but also they need more length. Ricks bariton with the cello strings has to be played using an amplifier or there would be no sound. It's difficult to make strings for a very large instrument fit a a smaller one. There's a whole lot of physics involved.

Can you use the Cello strings on a regular Psaltery, or would the holes in the pegs be too small?

Newbie question—Is this a baritone psaltery?

One of the most recorded Irish songs in history " Sally Gardens"  --also a personal fave!

Love the Sound, seems almost Haunting like. Love it!

Great song but WOW so much feedback on the amp.   You need a Behringer amp with the circuit that kills feedback. I do love your style of playing. Keep up the technique and teach us all how to do that.

Hi Celeste, that is one of Rick Long's baritone psalteries with some cello strings added and also with a pick up plugged in. It is haunting and lovely!

Lovely Rick!  Great to see you are still innovating the design of the great BP!

This video is a personal favorite because it shows a unique type of bowed psaltery with a gorgeous sound. When I heard it I broke out in goose bumps!
