Hi Bea at the time I was playing around and trying to develop a baritone bowed psaltery with flat-wound I was looking at the psaltery backwards as if the PIN what's a bridge and the bridge end was the nut on the tuning end plus the flat-wound would be a real nice bow surface over a round wire look at a violin steel bass string and it's flat wound.
But I don't recommend everybody going out in trying it because depending on the construction of the psaltery some may not take the wound string it'll be too much .
The other thing I honestly have to say Greg and I have differences of opinions but I do respect his opinion he taught me a lot and I think I taught him a few things. Greg is a fantastic person if I had a problem with an instrument I'd take it to him he's been doing this for one heck of a long time so he should know.
Bea- Your too modest! Besides Bowed Psaltery Bea is an excellent Hammer Dulcimer multi instrumentalist with her group "When Pigs Fly!" Welcome to Psaltery Strings,Bea and try to say nice things about me!
