I am a 70 plus retired fellow who is spellingly (and obviously technologically) challenged. Took me nine attempts to log back in and change my password (I have lots of sticky notes but forget to list what they go to) to get back to you. Wife just took care of that for me.
I look forward to meeting new friends here and learning to play so new friends do not run away like my cat does as I practice.
Hope my attempt at changing Psaltery Pstrings from plain to wound and learning to play goes better than changing passwords.
Now off to hear you play the songs I see listed above.
Thank you. I am new to the world of bowed psaltery. I went to Gatlinburg Tn. in October to the craft guild show and was amazed with this instrument. I now have completed making six psalteries( two of these I had to scrap). The four I have now are for Christmas gifts. Thank you for the warm welcome.
Jerry Beighley let me play his psaltery at Lisbon a few weeks ago. I wanted to play Meditation by Jules Massinet, but found no psaltery in production with its range. Finally found James Jones in Virginia, who is making one for me to run from G3 to G6 (E6 is needed for Meditation). Meanwhile I drew one out on paper so I can practice silently with stick for bow. Skye Boat Song for starters. Normally play piano and cello, so having to get my head straight. Chuck
Thank you for the Welcome! A friend has loaned me her psaltery until I purchase mine this summer and I've been have such a great time learning to pay this instrument so I'm so looking forward to getting my own instrument! In the meantime, I'm glad for the opportunity to be able to practice and play music on this wonderful instrument!
Thank you for the welcome !! This is a nice site and I have visited numerous times and am happy to now be a member. The research I have done on-line, going to different builders sites and You Tube, where I've watched the wonderful videos of you and others play and teach, has convinced me this is the instrument for me. I'm truly excited about getting my first bowed psaltery !!
Since I live in small town Iowa, is there a way for me to find other players near me ?

If you are already on Tish's list, why don't you stop in and update your info? While your there take a look to see if there are new players in your area. Who knows, you might get together and make a recording.
