Double bowing

Are there any resources out there for learning to use two bows, or am I on my own? I'm not quite ready to tackle it yet; I'm still new at this instrument, but at some point, I'll want to try it.Continue

If you want to come and meet some other bowed psaltery players in person and maybe take a workshop or two come to Cochocton Dulcimer Days. It's very bowed psaltery friendly. I'll be there with a group of psaltery players, were going to play for a half hour on stage Saturday morning (6-16) There will definitely be extra psalteries around if yours isn't done and there is a beginners psaltery class and a beginners music reading, both by Tish Westman, one of the best psaltery players I know. Music and good people, you can't ask for more!

Welcome to Psaltery Strings Tim! We're so happy to have you join us. Another member just finished a psaltery from the plans in a Psimple Psaltery and my favorite psaltery is one built by Eric Meier.

What Ren Faires do you play at?  I'm just west of Chicago and haven't seen a psaltery at the Bristol Ren Faires for many, many years.

Please visit often and keep us posted on your progress building your psaltery and your performing at the Ren Faires.

Amplified Psaltery with Cello Strings built by Rick Long

This video is a personal favorite because it shows a unique type of bowed psaltery with a gorgeous sound. When I heard it I broke out in goose bumps!

Please sign up on the bowed psaltery players list

Tish's list is a valuable resource when searching for other players. http://www.westmaninstruments.com/Bowed_Psaltery_List.html

If you are already on Tish's list, why don't you stop in and update your info? While your there take a look to see if there are new players in your area. Who knows, you might get together and make a recording.
