How do I post a video? My dear daughter shot me decently, though my performance is imperfect. But I wanted to show you all. But I am going crazy and wasting oceans of time trying to figure it out. I…Continue

I have invited a lovely, musically inclined twenty-something to come over and meet my bowed psalteries on Thursday. I have an overt agenda: I want someone to play with! I think she might be just the…Continue

I really have been sort of neglecting my psalteries. The baritone is cumbersome to pack and unpack, but I take it to the mountain dulcimer jam in Pickney 2x a month. I've been taking banjo lessons to justify my impulse purchase at Beckley last spring. We're coming along slowly. Plus I've started an Etsy business (https://www.etsy.com/shop/musicroomdollclothes. ; Not bad for a PWP who sometimes has to juggle her good hours…

This is the third time I've gone. The first time, I dropped by for twenty minutes, the second time I spent most of the day, and this year I spent the entire day, including supper, and the start of the…

Well, don't I feel like a musician! Lugging my gear all over town today! This morning I played my new baritone (Thanks Terry Butler and Rick Long). I was playing for our church's music leader to see if he had a place for me on the Christmas program. Oh, yes, he was quite enthusiastic. Then, he let me sit in on the music group and fudge a few songs. Getting better at thinking on my feet and not losing my way.
These sorta-skills were put to the test as I played with the hammer dulcimer…

A year ago I ventured into the Hammered Dulcimer festival at Evart, Michigan. http://evartdulcimerfest.org/
This was the beginning of me-as-a bowed-psalterist.
I’m staggered by how much I’ve been able to play and learn this year. I’ve accumulated reams of sheet music, but also picked out tune after tune by ear. I’ve memorized a couple pieces. I’ve participated in both a workshop and a festival with Tish Westman, and had gratis…

Sue-I've enjoyed reading about your psaltery adventure. I was so impressed with your playing at Cedar Lake. Thank you for the info regarding The Entertainer. I am learning it now. Gretchen
Hi, Sue. I noticed your name signed up for the symphony. I will come if I'm able. It was nice to meet you.
A little late but please accept Jeanie and I's welcome to to Psaltery Strings! We are enjoying your enthusiasm for our humble musical instrument, the Bowed Psaltery, and PS is the place to meet all the folks who feel the same way.
