My brother, Gregg Schneeman, told me I could take it to the park.
Who built your bowed psaltery?
Capritaurus, Felton, CA. My brother worked with the owner to make a better bowed psaltery. He gave me my first set of bows back in 1980.
Gregg is alive and well, and trying to get to all the best music festivals that will showcase the bowed psaltery.
How long have you played the bowed psaltery?
Do you perform with the bowed psaltery?
I used to perform and teach classes at the California Traditional Music Festival every year from 1984-1989. It was fun! I had a friend who played with me and helped at my workshops, but she had to move north to Seattle, and I stopped playing, and concentrated on my artwork instead.
Do you build bowed psalteries for sale?
No, but my husband and brother are working on making some bows.
Do you teach the bowed psaltery?
No longer, but Gregg does, and would like to make contact with Donna. He would love it if she would call him! His phone number is: (626) 355-6352. You can email me a message to pass along to him. Lynneart775@verizon.net, or Lynne@LynneFearman.com. Gregg lives in Arcadia, CA. 91006
We enjoyed the video you have of him playing, and would like to do a psaltery video for YouTube, but neither of us knows how.
How did you find out about our Psaltery Strings network?
My brother is a techno phobic so we looked you up together.
I can now order the holder and start to practice. I'm looking for traditional or BP players that I can connect with. I miss my Psaltery and want to free it from it home on the wall and let is sing again !! 5 1/2 months to go but who is counting ...
I have your brother's instructional video and enjoyed it. He really impressed me with his double bowing. I used to be floored with video for computer. It became easier with the invention of DIGITAL camcorders - no small tapes to contend with - just memory cards. Maybe one of his students has one of these and could make videos for you? It makes it much easier to get videos onto a computer. I know how to edit videos and change them to smaller file sizes for YouTube if you can get the videos onto a digital camcorder. It would require sending me the memory card temporarily and me mailing it back after editing. Not all camcorders produce good sound though. Sony has better sound than most I think.
I just checked out your web site Lynne, beautiful work. I have found thumbnails of a painting of a young lady playing the bowed psaltery that was supposedly painted several decades ago. That wasn't your work by chance was it? The woman was wearing a hat, the paints were soft colors, your work reminded me of it....
