"Gordon, One solution to your strings not "ringing" properly may be a slight adjustment the at the hitch pin.  I just finished installing 300 strings on some psalteries I recently built and I found an issue similar to…"

"Hi Gordon. I am an absolute newbie on the forum and with psaltries. But I have played string instruments for close to 60 years. So I offer my thoughts and hope we both learn. Is the amount of rosin on the offending strings equal to others? Perhaps a…"

"Try a very light gauge string, like .009 or .010. If that doesn't solve it then look closer at the strings contact with the bridge. I'm assuming the pins at the bridge are angled back a bit. Try pressing a piece of metal like a spoon…"

"Thanks, Celine. I do seem to be able to coax a bit more ring and better overall tone out of some of those strings if I play more gently and make a conscious effort to lightly drag out the note. I'll practice moving the bow against the pin and…"
