There are Many Ways to Support the Psaltery Strings Community and ALL are Important

Hi Everyone!

There are a variety of ways that members can support their on-line communities, and support is critical to the health of the community as well as it's growth.

The most important way to support our community is through participation, without participation the community will waste away. Another way to support the community is through recruiting new members. Do you have friends or family that might be interested? Do you know other bowed psaltery players that haven't joined us? Do you know other musicians that might have an interest, even a passing one, in the bowed psaltery? A little nudging can go a long way.

Of course there are expenses associated with running an on-line community. There are fees for the domain name, web hosting, applications such as the music player and so on. I do try to keep expenses down, but I also want this to be an entertaining, quality site.

Monetary donations are difficult to ask for and not a particularly popular choice for donation. I have posted a PayPal donation button in the right hand column of the site. PayPal is a safe and easy way to donate. However, some people prefer to purchase an item with a portion of the purchase price being donated to the community.

In this section I will list and link to those types of opportunities. Our January 2013 broadcast message provided information regarding denim shirts with bowed psaltery embroidery. Ten percent of the purchase price will be donated to Psaltery Strings.  More of these opportunities will be added in the future. I urge you to look at these opportunities bearing in mind that it is another way to keep Psaltery Strings alive and well.

Thanks to all of you for your past and future support!

The Psaltery Strings Music Book presents 50 melodies popular at traditional music gatherings. Although these traditional tunes were arranged with the Bowed Psaltery in mind, they are appropriate for all melody instruments. The sheet music is in an easy to read format, notes are labeled with their names, chords are provided and drone notes are suggested. Basic information related to reading sheet music is provided for those who would like to learn a little more about it.

The purchase price minus the cost of the book will be used to support the Psaltery Strings Community.  If you are interested in a volume purchase please contact me.

Please sign up on the bowed psaltery players list

Tish's list is a valuable resource when searching for other players. http://www.westmaninstruments.com/Bowed_Psaltery_List.html

If you are already on Tish's list, why don't you stop in and update your info? While your there take a look to see if there are new players in your area. Who knows, you might get together and make a recording.
