The music for June is an old Welsh lullaby called Suo Gan.
I first heard Suo Gan when I saw the movie Empire in the Sun. It was a theme song for the movie and hauntingly beautiful sung by a boy's choir. The song was played during the most emotional and touching scenes of the movie and I can't hear it without goosebumps forming!
The words sung in original Welsh (is that what it's called?) need no translation however the English translation can be found at:
I hope you enjoy it half as much as I do.
Here's the PDF for the sheet music and the play along files are below. The song is played slowly so I provided only two speeds. If anyone has a problem with the note range, message me and I'll try to put it in a key you can use on your psaltery.
Donna, what a beautiful song!
And it's a nice slow one too!
hee hee, and if you just play the melody, not too complicated! There's plenty of room to write note names on the paper as well.
I passed by your office building and waved at you today Ann! I bet you didn't see me
This is pretty! and coincidentally, I was playing this last night on the alto recorder!
what software did you use to make the sheet music? I'm wanting to make my own and i like how this looks.
I have always found this tune lovely but haunting. Now I am learning to play it. Thank you for posting the music.
