I play an instrument that is not a Bowed Psaltery nor a Plucked Psaltery

Hello everyone, I am new to the Bowed Psaltery forum. I currently play the Mountain Dulcimer but have acquired a different and new instrument by Jon Willams. I know a little about the bowed psaltery as many of my md friends also own a bp. In fact several of my md friends have formed a  group where they play at different Renasiannce fairs with their BP's.

Getting back to my new instrument it is not an md, it is not a bp and it is not a pp. This instrument is brand new and the invention of Jon Williams. It is based on the strings of a dulcimer and set up I think and could be wrong on a plucked psaltery but it is a totally new instrument called an Angel Wing Harp. The one I currently own (actually belongs to my wife) is sixteen strings in DAA tuning. It is shaped like an Angel Wing and you hold it on your chest much like an Autoharp. You can pluck it with your fingers or you can use banjo picks. You can use Psaltery tab or dulcimer tab with the instrument. Since I do not know of a proper instrument home for the AWH I found your forum and hoped I could receive some encouragment and information in playing this instrument with the help from new BP friends.

While my wife's new instrument is in DAA, I have already ordered one for me in DAD. Jon says the instrument is a little larger then the DAA model. I am hoping to get is sometime next month.

I do not rule out also adding a BP in the future as well. My wife and I have formed a duo called Sweet Strings. Originally Sweet Strings referred to the MD but as I add other string instuments the name actually takes on a greater meaning.

Why don't you post a picture of the instrument so we can see what you're talking about!

Can I upload a picture from my phone?

Checked out how easy it is to upload a picture. Took a picture of the AWH and it is now in photos for anyone to see.

Thanks Donna
