Yesterday I was contacted by Bob Jensen of Jensen Photography. Bob was the official photographer for the Nottingham Festival in California (FaceBook page and he is doing a series of images he is calling the "Inaugural Nottingham Festival Portrait Series"

Bob forwarded an image of Greg Schneeman from the Festival, he is working on one of Jean Gaffey. He asked if I could get the picture to Greg and give Greg his e-mail address, which I'll do shortly. I asked for permission to post the portrait, it is fabulous!

So, here it is, enjoy.....Greg you were born in the wrong time period, but we're glad you were!

Nottingham Renaissance Faire was bursting with talent and energy with good attendance both days. Saturday Jean and I played with Ad Hoc Consort and Danse Macabre but they did not come back Sunday. We were playing our psalteries when Bob Jensen asked us to pose for him. I had no idea I was going to be painted so nicely by someone bursting with that talent and energy of which I speak. Thank You Bob, Jeanie is forward to seeing her picture!  Nottingham is off to a great start, Long Live Queen Elizabeth! HUZZAH!

Wow, that is great!

Jeanie and I survived the first weekend of the Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire 2014 now in Irwindale CA! The weather was perfect, our Ad Hoc Consort played 4 sets, and Danse Macabre did 3 parades so they kept us busy. Tunes I'm playing on Bowed Psaltery and percussion with the consort include Beerdans, Schiarazulla, Stingo, and Shaking of the Sheets for Danse Macabre. Bransle Chevaux, Glory of the West, Argeers/Wedding Night, Old Mother Oxford, Much Wenlock, Indian Queen, Rufty Tufty, Nonsuch and others for Ad Hoc performances. Our group has five Recorder/Crumhorn  players, 2 violinists, 2 mandolins, our drummer, and our Maestro Bob Fox playing Serpent Horn. We have two singers and a women who dances with two swords on her head! So one weekend down and six to go. Come and see us!

This sounds wonderful. Perhaps we could see a video of your group?

I will let you know on Psaltery Strings when videos on You Tube show up of our consort. More and more people are putting up videos of their day at the Faire this year, there is a short view of Danse Macabre. Check out SoCal Danse Macabre on Face Book.

:) Thank you!

Jeanie and are back at the Original Renaissance Faire in Irwindale CA playing with the Ad Hoc Consort and marching around with Danse Macabre for another three weekends. Come see us!

This video is a personal favorite because it shows a unique type of bowed psaltery with a gorgeous sound. When I heard it I broke out in goose bumps!

If you are already on Tish's list, why don't you stop in and update your info? While your there take a look to see if there are new players in your area. Who knows, you might get together and make a recording.
