Beautiful! That song is the reason that I chose the psaltery that I chose. It had to go down to F3 so that I could play Ashokan Farewell in C maj, which is how I play it on the piano. Thanks for posting it!
i have to skip that F3 and just play the A3 twice. :( but it is still gorgeous!
I would love to know what kind of strings they use....
Interesting that she looks to have a death grip on her bows yet her touch seems light for the most part.
Great job....
Thank you very much everyone. The psalteries that we use have more than 60 strings (frow C2 to C7), which enables us to play songs with warious different expressions.
It might look like we grip our bows very firmly but the truth is on the contrary. The bows we are using weigh less than 10 grams. We hold our bows very softly and we place the bow on each note before we play the note. (Some classical guitarists call this technique planting. )
the planting must be what makes it look so deliberate and firm. i think it also adds to the fluidity. wonderful to watch, just amazing to hear! :)
This is one of my favorite tunes I play a lot. Don't know what key he was playing in, Just know it was different then the one I use.
Wow. Beautiful. Can't answer your question about what size. This makes me sleepy, so peaceful
Thank you, Andre.
It is I that play the bowed psaltery in this video. The person who plays the guitar is Makoto Kato, my teacher, who is also a member of Psaltery Strings.
Makoto Kato made the psaltery I use in this video. It has the notes from F1 to E7. In this video we play Ashokan Farewell in the key of D.

This is one of my favorite songs.
