Workshops...April 7,8,9, Performance April 10, 2011
We are all set, I think..... We have all the Noted Note sheet music with sound files, thanks Donna for making that possible, up on our website. The theme this year is a "Tribute to Turlough O'Carolan". Please don't feel like you have to be a professional player to participate. I have posted several parts for each song that range in various degrees of difficulty. Please, if you are new to the Bowed Psaltery and or new to music and have lots of questions and doubts, the "Workshops" that we have prior to the performance are very intense to help you get prepared for the performance. Last year we had 22 players from all over the country participate and have passed that number already. Please go ahead and download the music even if you can't come. The music is free! There aren't any registration fees to participate. No workshop fees. Your only expense will be to get here, eat, sleep and get home.
The Comfort Inn has given us a very good deal for lodging and a Cont' Breakfast for $39.99 which you will get a coupon for from me after you register for the symphony weekend and make your hotel reservations.

Come join us and make new friends. Most that were here last year have stayed in touch and have also had gatherings of their own. Some found they really liked playing with others and now play in "bands".
Come on out....
How many events and workshops are free? Not many....
Please, seriously consider coming. I made wonderful friendships last year, the experience was wonderful, the music beautiful and truly manageable for players of ALL levels. Playing with others brings the bowed psaltery experience to a new level! There is an immediate bond with every person there, we all love the bowed psaltery.
For those not familiar with Turlough O'Carolan, his music is beautiful. He was a blind harper in the late 16 early 1700s and his music is much appreciated today!
Sign up for the Symphony today, make those hotel reservations and commit to participating! You will not regret it.
Time is flying by and the Symphony event will,no doubt, be here before I am ready. Even if not attending, take advantage of the sheet music that is available. O'Carolan's music is beautiful. There are midi files (at very slow BPM for learning purposes) to give you an idea of how the tunes should sound. If you're anything like me, that is very helpful.
Here's the link for the sheet music and sound files
If any of you attending the Symphony (or even if you're not) would like to get a t-shirt or mug etc. with the 2011 artwork you can find items at CafePress. The link below takes you directly to the symphony items.
The next link is the main store page in case you just want to poke around
If you want an imagine on an items it's not shown on, let me know and I can put it out there for you.
They look great and are great advertising for your instrument or in this case an event...she has several other images also. Thanks Donna for putting up the items for the Symphony.
My pleasure..and I almost forgot, there are no buttons available because they will be given to all the atendees at the event!
I am so looking forward to this : )
We officially have 29 registrants and I know of a few more that are practicing, are having cold feet and haven't decided yet. If you think you can't do the performance but want to participate in the workshops come, be a part of our weekend anyway. You will learn more about your instrument and increase your abilities. There will be evening jams for all instruments. Might be some impromptu workshops there as well.
Thanks for giving us all buttons again this year, so much fun to have.....
We are all looking forward to seeing old friends from last year : )
Can the stage hold us all? Is there a max load limit? : )
I've been so sick the last couple weeks...MUST GET BETTER FAST, practice, practice, practice...
Yah! We're getting close now.
This time next week I'll be at the Tamarack pretending to be a musician!
