Hi Donna-  John and I are staying at the Hampton.  We will  be leaving sometime on Thursday but since we are traveling so far, I don't know when we will arrive.  I am trying to get John to leave early, but we'll see...

I'll be getting there Thursday evening....probably won't see everyone until Friday morning. Anyone else staying at the Hampton Inn?

Comment by Dave Holeton on October 27, 2013 at 7:13pm

I expect to be there Friday and Saturday.  Now that Thursday is available, I'll see if I can escape for Thursday also.

Well, The East Tennessee Bowed Psaltery Gathering begins next week.  I have rented the building for an extra day on Thursday, October 31.  This will be a day for me to set up and get everything ready.  This also means that anyone arriving on Thursday is welcome to come by to use the building for jamming, the jam before the jam.  There are around 50 folks registered, so there is definitely room  for more.  If you decide to attend, and haven't registered, please let me know that you are coming. All I need is your name, city, and state to prepare a name tag for you.  The cost is $10, and that covers all three days.  That's a pretty good bargain, considering the three days will be full of jamming, learning, and fellowship with other bowed psaltery enthusiasts.  Details are on my website at www.ringingstrings.com

Hi Rick-  Thanks for posting the schedule on the website!  John and I are looking forward to attending the gathering again this year!

Comment by Rick Long on October 11, 2013 at 9:28am

Hi Everyone,  Time is getting near for the Gathering, less than three weeks.  Registration is getting really close to fifty that have let me know they are attending.  Important to let me know, the building will only hold eighty of us, and that will be packed in closely.  There are a few in the "might attend" box to the right.  Let me know soon.

The schedule is now posted on my website at http://www.ringingstrings.com/Gathering.html

I'll have a more detailed schedule after I discuss workshop times with the folks that will be teaching.

I have also recorded sound clips of the songs in Donna's Psaltery Strings Music Books Vol. 1.  We will be drawing from these songs for some of our jam material.  They could also be used by the workshop leaders to teach technique.

This video is a personal favorite because it shows a unique type of bowed psaltery with a gorgeous sound. When I heard it I broke out in goose bumps!
