Thank you Dawn! My daughter is working in Anniston all summer, so I thought I could visit her and pop over there while I'm at it. :)
Brenda;
There isn't much information out there, although you can find a little bit here and there. Basically, for those that come on Friday night, there is a jam at the Kiwanis Pavilion in the state park (it has lights) although I don't know what time this starts. On Saturday morning there are classes on psaltery for different levels, then at 1 there is an open stage and contest. I think she takes orders for lunch as there is no longer a restaurant in the park, although the ice cream shop sometimes carries sandwiches and a few other things. I'm not sure who is teaching classes, but you can look at Paulette and Dave Lucas's website for their contact information and either e-mail or call them. Their website is: http://www.davespsaltery.com
I do know the festival is free and there is no registration, but you must pay to enter the state park, which is a per person fee, although entrance is included with camping fees. There are some cabins at the park (from basic camping cabins with nothing but heat and A/C, to fully furnished cabins) and some might be available for the event but you have to contact the state park during daytime hours to find out and reserve. There aren't any hotels/motels really close by (its a state park!), but there are several within about 10-12 miles. For a list of those hotels, you can go to the Southern Appalachian Dulcimer association website linked below and there is a link to a list of hotels in the area about 4-5 lines down the page. https://sdulcimer.wordpress.com/42nd-annual-sada-festival-at-tanneh...
Where does one get information on this, such as, how to register, is there a registration fee and how much, etc? Is there a web site with this information? Or do you just show up at the state park?
I'll be providing the sound for the Psaltery festival, so should be easy to find. I'm trying to get a friend to come with me that wants to try the psaltery.
Amplified Psaltery with Cello Strings built by Rick Long
This video is a personal favorite because it shows a unique type of bowed psaltery with a gorgeous sound. When I heard it I broke out in goose bumps!
